Today I found necessary to contact my Governor, Florida Governor Rick Scott, regarding the incompetence of the Florida Department of Revenue. I’ll get back to you should the Governor feel inclined to respond.

Re: Incompetence of the Sarasota office of the Florida Department of Revenue
Dear Governor Scott
I have lived in my current residence at ___(address deleted)___ (some databases show it as Bradenton Florida) since February 25, 2011. Not long after moving into my residence I began receiving letters from the Sarasota office of the Florida Department of Revenue about unpaid state unemployment taxes that were addressed to “Soundscapes Audio Video LLC” at my address.
I am not or have I ever been Soundscapes Audio Video LLC.
At first I simply wrote “not at this address” across the envelope and mailed the letters back to the Sarasota Office. Still the letters came.
Earlier this year I wrote not once but twice to the office manager of the Sarasota Office of the Florida Department of Revenue, not asking but begging that they stop harassing me with these letters mailed to a company that is not here. After the second letter to the office manager I received a phone call from that person apologizing for the “misunderstanding” and assuring me that their system was updated and that I would never receive another letter addressed to Soundscapes Audio Video LLC.
That was until today when I received letter dated July 2 2012 from the Sarasota office of the Florida Department of Revenue – the same office that assured me several months ago that I would no longer be harassed by them for a company with which I am not associated.
Frustrated with this continual display of incompetence on the part of the local office I called them this morning to ask one more time if they would please stop harassing me. I talked very briefly with a black guy who answered the phone but hung up on him when it was obvious I was being led down the same path again.
Instead of dealing with the Sarasota office of the Florida Department of Revenue any longer I thought I would write to you and ask for your help. During the 2010 campaign, when you were the Tea Bag Party candidate for Governor you made it abundantly clear that state employees are the bane of our existence in this state. The local DOR office is an obvious example of that incompetence. Personally if you want to cut any more state offices and remove/eliminate state employees I would recommend that you begin (but don’t end) with the Sarasota DOR office. They are probably just a bunch of liberals trying to find ways to impede my freedoms anyway.
So, Governor Scott, can you help? Is it possible to get a message to the Sarasota DOR office ordering them to stop hounding me with letters about “Final Assessments” for unemployment taxes that are not my responsibility and for a company that doesn’t exist in my home? Is that too much to ask?
I’m copying this letter to the local DOR office, to the Secretary of the DOR, and to my Florida State Senator to let them know I am fed up with the incompetence and want it stopped. Please do something to reign in these bureaucrats run amok.
